Going up to Anfield again in 10 days time to see us play Wigan, the third time this season I'll have watched a league game at home (Villa and Birmingham being the other two).
You can tell we're doing badly as the tickets are generally all going to public sale. Whats more this will be the second game in a row I'm sitting in the Kop. Fans are obviously unhappy and you cannot blame them. Mind you at the minute they cannot decide who they are more unhappy with, the owners, the players or the manager.
Rafa has his faults don't get me wrong (the poor man-management of Alonso and Hyypia leading to them both leaving for example) but everyone knows he the is hamstrung by the clubs lack of money compared not just to the other 'top 4' clubs, but also spurs, villa and of course man city.
As I write this I am very pessimistic. We will be shopping in the New Year bargain basements this year looking for free transfers or gambling on players whilst each of the clubs above now have the resources to buy anyone they want. And quite frankly who would want to play for us, with the clubs financial position so uncertain.
January will make or break our season. We need to get and keep our players fit, recruit both wisely and cheaply and have a good europa cup run. However thursday night kickoffs will stretch our squad even more and we could be out the FA Cup before we play in Europe again if we are not too careful. A lot rests on Torres's groin and Acquillani's ankle.
I cannot help but think that Rafa will leave at the end of the season for Real Madrid, whether we finish in fourth spot or not. That is my nightmare and its coming ever more real every day.
